Who's The Fool?
By Ladybird
08 May 2006

Gambling is a wicked sin
Aunt Ada preached to me
A fool and his money part soon enough
If you gamble my dear, you will see.

Well- Aunty dear, I backed a horse
And you know, it was such jolly fun.
Bet a hundred pounds, to win the race
It came first, at odds ten to one.

So, I took a chance on a lottery line
A million pounds prize, was the call.
Now Aunty my dear, I'm a millionairess.
So I guess it is you, who's the fool!

(Before I start, gambling has a "b") which can quickly be put right.

I thought this was quite funny and you have done as I do sometimes - made light of a serious subject. (See my poem: "It's No to Healthy Eating". I think you can't agree with this (unless you have actually won one million pounds) - but there are many people in this country who are in abject misery because of debts run up by gambling. That aside, I think this was so funny. You must do a follow up as to whether the money actually brought happiness. They say it doesn't - but there again you can be unhappy in comfort. ha ha
