Gone to School
By Ladybird

Yesterday - they were babes in arms
Today they march with others
to the place they will be educated.
The view is very different now
their little lives - take on new meaning.
They are eager for the knowledge
that will be theirs.
Their hurts, will still need tending to
And their tears, still dried at times.
But- now there is independence
they spread their wings and fly.
The home is still their nest
but- their thirst for knowledge
Will take them to different places now.
I am a little sad
I will miss them
But- they must walk these paths
like everyone and
I must let them go
There is sadness in my heart.
