Don't I know it. Written by BrianRobertNeal (1195 comments posted) 20th May 2006 | Succinct, to the point, and depressingly true, Thanks for all your time and comments, Brian. PM me your E-Mail Addres and I'll send you a special edition of "Octopus"-I promise not to stalk you-honest. | Written by brook_rivers (484 comments posted) 21st May 2006 | It surprizes me that this is your first piece of poetry, although a simple poem it is powerful, especially the last line!
| thanks Written by woody44 (775 comments posted) 21st May 2006 | | Thanks Brian and Brook. I was inspired, if that`s the right word, to write the poem after going to a flower festival on saturday with my wife and one of the exhibits was accompanied by a poem by Jenny Joseph entitled `When I am an old woman I shall wear purple` I am beginning to appreciate what a lot can be said in just a few lines... | OLD - don't say what is old if you've Written by Josie (2785 comments posted) 21st May 2006 | idn't you read my poem: "Such Fun on the Downhill Slope"? Old’s having fun on the downhill slope with time to relax and have fun Old’s having been there and done what you want – now you’ve time to sit in the sun. Old’s having time to spend with your friends, for dancing and kicking your feet – Old’s being able to choose what you do. One day you will find “old” is sweet!
| flip side Written by woody44 (775 comments posted) 21st May 2006 | Hi Josie.I hadn`t read your poem before being new to the Poetry site. Loved the poem and your take on old age, which of course is the posiitive side of things. I am retired, and enjoying life to the full I hasten to add, but I suppose it`s always good from a writing perspective that there is always two sides to a coin... happy writing... | loved the poem.
