I'm proud to be British, whatever that is!!!

This is my personal view of my own Nation. My wish is to be in the tiny village that remains my ideal Britain! I love the cliches, not the realities!

An Information Society where I am not informed,
A country which is stereotyped by those who've not been warned.
Documentaries, media hype, paparrazzi gossip,
Teengers who hide themselves with drugs and foul mouthed lip.
All the corners of the world crammed into one large city,
Where did all the sparkle go that made this country pretty?
Where are all the mannerisms that point to being British?
Reduced to being just a nation known for chips with fish.
Even tea is herbalised and much more better for us,
We drink our beer in binges and it causes quite a fuss!
Britain is an island but it's in a shrinking world,
Into diverse cultures through the internet we're hurled.
Cricket is no longer played upon the village green,
There isn't enough interest to even form a team.
Cottages are owned now by someone in the city,
Village life is changing and it really is a pity.
If you have a part of Britain that is not affected,
Then pray to God it will remain that you wont be connected.
Property developers wont know that you are there,
Estate agents will pass you by without a single care.
Other people's cultures wont intrude upon your life,
The world will be a distant place and never give you strife.
Surrounded by the things you love with every wish fulfilled,
You will be the Britain that the rest of us have killed!

This reminds me of a poem by Roger McGough, the Britain he wrote about had become a themed amusement park for the rest of teh world.
I'm not a poet so will confine my comments to context. I think put your finger on a lot of the problems, the main one being what does it mean to be British.
I think you got something wrong in your pre-amble, though.
" love the cliches, not the realities!"
Under new-labour spin the cliches are the reality.
cheers
