Advice from the community
Awe...

Okay, I'm cheating, this isn't really advice, but I think it counts anyway...

I was introduced to this site by a friend [that titan of writing we know as Flippy_D] and at first, I just piled everything I could find on to the internet - not smooth, as people get annoyed about spamming - and waited greedily for reviews.

But as I began to read around and review more, I was taken aback by just how much there is here. The experiences that have been chronicled in the poetry section alone, are astonishing. So I want to take this opportunity to a) thank for inspiration, and b) voice my respect for, every writer who's ever put their heart in their mouths and their souls in their fingers and written from here *points to somewhere vaguely seat-of-all-knowledge-and-emotion-ish*...which I think is everyone, really Laughing

yours greatly humbled

That's exactly what I did at first and now am still trying to avoid piling my stories. The more time you take on something, the more you get to know more about it and eventually make it sound better and better. Right now, I'm in the process of editing all of my stories I posted and making changes to them..It takes a long time. The more you read other work from different writers, the more you get to learn about their styles and sort of incorporate them into your own. It's not considered "stealing", well in a way it is but my point is that your writing begins to grow. Take jazz music for example. Some of the famous improvisers in jazz always "steal" ideas from other players. This helps them develop a unique style and makes them a better player. So go out there and see for yourself! :)
