It was a week before I saw my son after he was born
They took you from me that dark night And I was left to fight my fight. Tight wrapped in blue, no sound you'd made. I feel it still, like time replayed.
And I was left to fight my fight. In tunnel black I scorned the light, And clawed through mists of blood red pain, A handhold on my life to gain.
Tight wrapped in blue, no sound you'd made, Eight days, eight nights, how hard I prayed To live, to hold you, know your scent, Just once, and I would be content.
I feel it still, like time replayed The sting of it will never fade, Fearing that I could be torn From my child, my newly born.
