This is a poem that I wrote when I was just 4 years old. My grandfather had died the night before, and I woke up in the morning and just wrote this poem. I didn't know he had died. My mum only told me in the afternoon that day. She was astounded when she saw the poem. When I sleep my beautiful sleep I see and hear things in my dreams Of people I no longer see And voices I no longer hear In my sweet beautiful sleep. |

I really was just 4. I've still got the original hand written scrawl that I wrote using a coloured pencil. I know that no one's going to believe me. But it is true. | Written by brook_rivers (484 comments posted) 1st June 2006 | Oh no i wasn't doubting that it was written when you were 4, i genuinely think it is an amzing feat for a young child. The words are full of the innocence and simplicity of a child, and yet an adult reading it would gain a lot more meaning from it. Out of interest have you written poetry since you were achild or have you only just picked it up again? I wrote a lot when i was 12/13 years old and have just picked up the bug again this year. Welcome to the site BTW! Brook | Written by mishmish (389 comments posted) 1st June 2006 | Decree of nature, posted today, was the last poem I've written, and that was a few years ago. But yeh, I'm getting the bug again. I wrote tons of stuff when I was in my teens. I think its all that angst and rights of passage thing. I never seemed to stop! I love poetry, but I've been spending a lot of spare time writing an absolutely massive book, but this site is getting me itching again to write poetry. So watch this space...I'll be posting more. Thanks. Mishmish
