1. First turning Foretelling
Shall I bind the compass of my love
into two golden and equivalent spheres ?
Shall I by dialectic try to prove
each body soul and mind to each adheres ?
Shall I , when this brief foredoomed love is past,
lament the hours away till some new chain
is forged to prove as binding as the last ?
a love not of the spirit but the brain ?
Taking the precedent of loves long dead
it seems to me that such a course is certain .
I have acted out such loves ahead
and shall do so until the final curtain.

Deep and thought provoking Written by mishmish (389 comments posted) 8th June 2006 | This poem really got me thinking...It is beautiful but very sad. The line: "two golden and equivalent spheres" - two people, matched, 'golden' reflective of flame/energy. the 'spheres' being the atoms that make up our being, our vessel, in which we keep our soul and mind. 'till some new chain' - we are energy floating, till we find some new connection, someone we relate to. We find love with our brains first, then through chemical reactions our hearts are influenced. The line... "Taking the precedent of loves long dead it seems to me that such a course is certain" Are we all destined to find the same love again and again, once we find the love that connects with us. sorry I've rambled...My interpretation is probably wrong. But that's the joy of poetry. I really enjoyed this. A lovely poem! best wishes mishmish
