Ol' Flashing Eyes
By brook_rivers

This is just a rough draft & I am planning to extend it.
Has anyone else has heard of the phrase 'old flashing eyes'? In my family the phrase was derived from one of my uncles who fancied himself as a bit of an Elvis, and has been used ever since to describe anyone who is a bit of a charmer! Not exactly intellectual poetry but I have enjoyed using the idea!

There goes the guy with the flashing eyes,
The one responsible for all the girls sighs,

In the style of a Hollywood shaker,
He was a real love maker,
And of course a typical heart breaker,
The guy with the flashing eyes,

With that loveable cockney charm,
He had girls eating out of his palm,
But he never came to any real harm,
’Coz he was the guy with the flashing eyes!

Hi Brook

Yes, I have heard of that phrase. My grandmother, an South East Londoner, used that phrase about my grandfather!

A super poem...I'll be interested to see how it develops. Although, I rather like it as it is.

You've captured a sense of roguish charm about the chracter quite beautifully...

Well done!

best wishes
