CHAPTER1

Chantelle was looking in the mirror wondering how it all had happened, it had escalated and now she was in trouble, dire trouble.

If only jimmy had kept his cock in his trousers this would never have happened.

As she looked back she trembled, thinking how she could easily have been caught

She had been a defence lawyer for 5 years now and had quite a reputation, for being and very ambitious aggressive and a strong woman, who didn’t suffer fools lightly

It was a hot day, chantelle had come home early from work, she had been working on a very complicated case, all she wanted was to shower and lie down, as ,she went into the bedroom she could smell a strange perfume very heady, and musky. She knew it wasn’t hers it was to pungent.

RAIN WAS BEATING HARD against the window when jimmy came home,” have a good day” he said, looking at chantelle “oh yes” she said, watching him closely,” I came home early. There was no answer from jimmy, as he went upstairs to shower.

Her marriage had never been happy; jimmy was bombastic, histrionic, pompous and insensitive.

The only time he had been kind and loving was when they were courting, this didn’t last long, and she was sick and tired of his womanising.

His last woman was his secretary, a thin blonde brain dead woman, with no personality. Well this was the end, chantelle thought, she was going to hit back,Chantelle picked the phone up, remembering her father had to be at the hospital early next day, and he wanted to borrow the car.

As chantelle got ready for bed she looked in the mirror, she saw a beautiful woman, with black long silky hair skin like honey, and a funny turned up nose, how could anyone not want her?.

Morning came, the rain had stopped and she had a very early appointment with a very ominous client.

Chandelle met Santos, in the office he was early for once, he was a very handsome man, tanned and very fit, his muscles rippled out of his shirt, chatelle looked at him thinking, he sure as hell loves himself, she laughed as she shook his hand” sit down Santos, and tell me what you have decided.

He sat down,” I am not going to appeal” said. Santos.

Santos was a mafia man; he was accused of the murder of a gangland boss Tommy blood.

He stated he was innocent but chantelle doubted it, she was trying to get him to plea bargain, he was then looking at 10 years,

“Look Santos I have some information that could interest you!” said chantelle, smiling to herself,

But no one must know it’s come from me...

As chantelle explained what she had heard from detective Monroe, Santos got angry, a witness that’s all he needed, to destroy his liberty, he knew about Monroe he was very ambitious, and never gave up. He had been on his case for years now, and there was no sign of him stopping.

“Right “said Santos, I will deal with the witness all I need is his name and address.

Chantelle felt no remorse, as she gave the name and address to Santos.

It had been a long day thought chantelle as she hurried home in the rushed and harried traffic

Thank god for music, she thought as she listened to the latest tape from kid Lang, jimmy would be staying in London at his town flat, he always stayed at the end of the week, this saved him having a long drive after his work, and he was a busy consultant and often worked till 12pm...

The banging on the door woke her up, it was the police,” can we come in we have some bad news” said detective Monroe,” your husband has been in a bad accident, his car brakes failed he crashed into a tree he died instantly” said Monroe, watching chantelle carefully.

I can’t believe it said chantelle crying her tears running down her face.

The phone rang; chantelle picked it up “is your father there “said her mum he borrowed the car from jimmy and hasn’t come home yet, chantelle dropped the phone.

THE NEXT CALL CAME FROM SANTOS!

I noticed this had no reviews so thought i'd give it a read.

I did not see that twist coming! When she started talking about a witness i thought 'oh i know it's her husband. She's got rid of him.' So i was very pleased with the unpredictable ending.
I think it could maybe be a little longer? Would have liked more time to connect to Chantelle and understand why she hates her husband so much. The events all unfolded a little too quickly for me.
Also maybe proof read this again. I got a bit confused with speech marks being in the wrong place etc.

An enjoyable read :)
