A Crime of Cupid

This poem meant an end to alot of things for me, things I'm probably better off without, but that i'm certainly better off for having experinced.

I wanted to be the difference,
like the different between a singer
and an angel.

I wanted to be the difference,
like the difference between telling a secret
and pouring your heart all over the floor.

I wanted to be the difference,
like the differece between a best friend
and soul mate.

But the distance from the surface of your eyes
to the bottom of your soul was too far;
I couldn't afford to break that many bones.

I wanted to be yours, to stay with you always,
never leave 'til I had to, and then pine everyday
and celebrate my return with dinner, bubbly.

You wanted what was best for me,
for me to have the things that I deserved.

You wanted to hold me, to kiss me,
even though you never could.

You wanted to be mine,
did you ever want me?

Hi

This is an interesting poem that works in some parts...better than others. I really liked:

'I wanted to be the difference,
like the differece between a best friend
and soul mate.

But the distance between the surface of your eyes
and the bottom of your soul was too far;
I couldn't afford to break that many bones.'

best wishes
