Too Much For One day
By Buchan
23 June 2006
Sometimes with News and  changing values , much to address. "The World is too Much" to digest in a short time.

The world is too much for one day
                             Birds flying high,blocking the sun
Flowers with no colours or textures
                             Bright Balloons burst,soft pink tears

The world is too much for one day
Since children grew and went away
                             Change and values,moving like mud
                              Opinion  a brave fact,reality gone

The world is too much for one day
                                Left over self centred cheese
Never to be eaten, money is the plate
The world turns again ,without movement.

I seem to very much enjoy your writing.

Its funny, i've just finished watching American Beauty and this seems like a great companion piece to the scene where the plastic bag is caught whirling round in the wind.

I look forward to more, soon.
Superb!

This captures the feeling of a heavy load, everything happening all at once, not enough time to take it all in, and not enough strength to really want to.

I absolutely love the title: Too much for one day

I get the feeling that this was written from an older perspective, that the lines:

Since children grew and went away
Change and values,moving like mud
Opinion, a brave fact,reality gone

resonate with a pain that underlies this whole poem. That everything you say, your opinion, is always shot down by younger, quicker, faster individuals and that everyone is living in a world that is just too much too really comprehend 'reality gone' - the reality you remember from older-maybe better times is gone. Everything is electronic, techno, whizz-bang and nothing is real any more. There is no feeling any more.

Once again, this is only my interpretation...

A beautiful, but sad poem...One that moved me.

Well done...best wishes
