Protect and Serve - Not die

My four brave buddies in BLUE
Today the Country salutes you
You were all an inspirational light
Keeping your mission and zest bright
Little did you ever know
What seeds of evil against you could sew

On Sunday 25th Junes 2006 you were on duty
Little knowing what was expected of you
To come up against the trained forces of evil
Lead to your fate by Lucifer, the Devil
You were outnumbered, outgunned and slain
Like pigs going to their slaughter

Out numbered, not once, out spirited
You stood your ground like heroes
You carried your cross like disciples
You paid the supreme price with your flesh
You have all earned a place in heaven
While your enemy will languish in HELL!

a very emotionally charged poem, and a fascinating read. I only hope this is fiction and not real life - although this fate has been given to many brave men who selflessly give their lives and their life to protect others.

great writing

The imagery was really great in this poem. But then this is the kind of poem I like. :)

This feels like you feel very strongly about the subject matter... Would love to know whether real life events inspired this writing.

Thank you Brook, tat_2man & Leo for your kind reviews.
Not fiction but real life, or the loss thereof lead me to the writing of this poem.
It all happened last Sunday after an armed robbery in Honeydew on the outskirts of Johannesburg. One suspect was arrested at the scene and he lead the SAPS into an ambush where the members came up against a gang of trained & armed to the teeth (AK 47's and the like) so called "Refugees" from Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Eight of the so called suspects also lost their lifes in the ensueing battile which lasted about four hours.
Today another policeman lost his life in Johannesburg while transporting three prisoners to prison. Oh yes, his partner went to buy cold drinks before the incident.

Painful and Powerful

After knowing this is fact not fiction, the power and pain in this poem flow even stronger and harder than before.

This is writing from the soul, I can see that...and only this writing of such incredible quality and such depth can only be borne out of true life events...Believe me I know.

Keep the faith...and keeping writing...

best wishes

Uncontrolled crime

Thanks
If these retards don't do something about uncontrolled crime soon, they stand to lose the 2010 soccer bid.
:sigh
