Gods Jest

god works in mysterious ways

How many people have you heard of who died from kidney failure?

How many people have you heard of who died from heart failure?

Infinitely more?

Why then did god give us two ..........kidneys

but only one heart

Forget silicone breasts and dimple chins,

How long will it be before your auxiliary heart becomes the rich persons implant?

Unpleasant, but believable

I suspect that hearts have already been ripped from unwilling donors by some unscrupulous 'spare parts' surgeons. Do you remember the Joan Baez song 'All my troubles'? It had the lines: If living were a thing that money could buy, the rich would live and the poor would die.'

The simplicity and directness of this poem gave it impact. Just a thought; might it have been better to write 'How long before your heart becomes the rich person's auxiliary implant'?

:eek Perhaps you did not intend this to be read as a poem, just as a pithy piece of prose. Still, I am unrepentant because I think it works well as either.
