There's not many round my way
all me mate's think i am daft
writing all this poetry stuff,
willie woofter that's you,

most my mate's they;re stealing car's
selling dope or pimping
the girls down at barton dock.

hip hop=top-lip goona see the doc
got a spot where it shoulden't be

met a guy the other day
said he was a street poet
talked about life,wrote about life
that's what he said, wrote about life,
i asked does a street poet only
write on the street, not at home
he laughed at me called me fool,
so what to do
thats the question?
write my poem's and feel a fool
or goona pimp young linda
down barton dock way.

Good idea.

For what it is worth I thought it would have had a great deal more impact if it had been in rhyme. The rhythm and beat of a bouncing idea swung into the imagination makes a tickling continuity in the reader's head. The words are repeated in the subconscious and reinforce the message. I readily own this would demand something a tad more ambitious; but I thought this well worth it. Short; snappy and in your face were it in rhyming verse.

Try it.

But whatever; I enjoyed reading it.

Slan!

PS if it is Barton Lock in Salford, all the more reason to do so.

PPS Try John Cooper Clarke for a rollicking good getting down to getting up the nose. [ Beesley Street/Evidently Chicken Town].
