I Love You More than Chocolate

this was inspired by a quote of an unknown person.. i picked it up: "forget love... i'd rather fall in chocolate!" personally, at shallow thinking, i can relate. but with, you know, i reflect upon my life, chocolate is much more expendable than my loved ones.

they say chocolate is the best,

way, way more better than all the rest,

but i know, i love you like the waves crash upon the rock,

and that, my love, is my hope when i'm stuck.

you shine in my life like the sun for the land,

never in a way that chocolate ever can.

it'll never sustain the great joy and elation i feel,

when i see you, by your sight, all my wounds heal.

chocolate is food; you are life in my soul,

the mere thought of you is more than i can hold.

the feeling in my chest at the very sight of you,

'coz my sweet, you're different, I love you.

Some of the lines you have used; "the waves crash..." "You shine in....Land" "you are the life of my soul" are superb. In my opinion they are too good for a ?light hearted? piece about comparing love to chocolate.
But maybe that was precisely your point.
Anyway, well done and thank you.

Its hard to beat chocolate, but when you really care about someone that beats it all to pieces. Excellent poem

Damn but I love chocolate. Apparently it releses happy hormones when you eat it. You are luck to be so bouyed by a love that prompts such poetry.

I like the poem and like the love of most of the women in my life it's short and sweet, but then again so is chocolate.

I like poems in praise of feeling good so maybe I'm biased, but it really does come through well. The only critism I'd make is to change the 'coz to 'cause' but that's just my preference for a lack of slang.
