What would he say?

This is my first ever 'public' poem so I would really really appreciate any views whatsoever....

P.S.  I'm new here - so hi! Cool

His eyes looked up
Not on their own
He made them show
He feels at home

He’s lucky though
And so am I
He is my pet
But what am I?

I just don’t know
I can but guess
I love him though
And do my best

If he could talk
I hope he’d say
“She’s my best friend, and
We have our way”

I think he’s great
Because I know
He’s my bodyguard
And lets it show

He snuggles in
Against my knee
Now, is he nine, or 63?

Far, far better than my first attempt at writing anything.
Why don't you try one from your pet's point of view and have him write about you?
A piece of work that aims at making us smile is a blessed thing. Well done.
Mike

it's a good poem, on everyday insights that we don't normally talk to others about but it's brilliant when you picture it through words and poetry...

keep writing!

Anyone who has had a dog will identify with this poem.

I think a good way to start writing is to take something you feel strongly about - like your dog - and just let all your feelings come out.

I'd like to know what sort of dog - and what she looks like and what sorts of things you do together. You could write a dozen poems probably.
