This is a single scene from my film. The worker has just found out that his sister has been murdered. He goes to his boss for comfort little realising that he is in fact the killer.

ext.. Construction Site--day

Don is sitting at his desk, completing some paperwork when a knock at the door makes him lift his head and drop the pen.

Don

                                        Come in.

A young worker walks in and removes his safety helmet, twisting it in his hands after closing the door and arriving to stand in front of Don's desk. Don takes in the worker's distraught expression.

Don

Is everything alright son? It's not

woman trouble is it? Because you've come

to the right man if it is.

The worker shakes his head negatively and seems barely able to hold back the tears.

Worker

I've only just found out Gov. On my

                                       mobile.

Don

                                       What?

Worker

It's my sister. She's been found...

Don sits back in his chair waiting for the worker to finish.

Cont.

Worker

                                     Been found(pause)dead, she's been found

                                     dead.

The worker bursts into tears and Don stands to put a comforting arm around his shoulder and helps ease him into the chair.

Don

There we go mate, just you have a seat

there. I'll get you a drink.

Don opens up the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet, which is empty apart from the scotch and two crystal glasses that he pulls out.

Worker

I just can't get my head round it. She

                                      was only sixteen, Gov.

Don

                                      Don. Call me Don.

Don places the glasses down onto the desk and fills them both with scotch. The worker picks up his glass and finishes half of it in one go, breathing out lingeringly as the burn hits his chest.

Don

                                     Just take your time son.

Worker

I need some time off Gov, er Don.

Don

Of course lad. You're obviously in a

certain amount of stress and I

understand that you might want to keep

some of the details to yourself. I've

                                    got your home phone number?

Worker

                                    Yes Gov.

Don

Good. Take as long as you need. All I

ask is that you keep me as informed as

                                   possible.

Worker finishes off the rest of his scotch and sits cradling the glass

Don

                                    Refill son?

Worker has barely begun to nod his acceptance when Don fills the glass while it is still in his hand.

Did you have a little trouble with the formatting here?

Yes! When I pasted it from my office all of the speech pulled to the left; and for some reason is double-spaced. I'd have liked to put the whole film on, but it's over 28,000 words. I didn't fancy all of that editing!

but hard work with the formatting to appreciate it properly
bagheeera's got a package you can download that sits it all in the right spots

might be worthwhile

other than that it's up to your usual high standards

would make a good story too?
