Lament for the Lost One

As if it mattered !

Lament for the Lost One

Or : What happened to that heavenly body ?

An Occasional Poem on a Changing Universe

Astronomers , hide your collective face!

Astrologers , to the corner in disgrace !

And that same Disney , by name of Walt,

No more need admit to a grievous fault

when he took a god of Roman fame ,

reversed god to dog , and gave the name

to a tongue- lolling , sniffing , panting hound --

as stupid a dog as could be found !

But now he might find some satisfaction

In new cosmology's last redaction .

Years past , a god took his special place

Out in the depths of darkest space --

But now , alas , it has come to this

They've reclassified Hades or Dis !

The solar system has shrunk in toto

Because they've decided to degrade Pluto.

Hi Brian

This was superb. I really had a good laugh. Such a superior tongue in cheek writing has to be lauded. (Why no reviews????)

I was thoroughly pissed off when they decided to degrade pluto. It's been a planet for ages why reclassify now!!! As you know I'm got a thing for science and I love cosmology so this poem went down a treat...

Absolutely loved it, really, really brightened up an otherwise dreary Saturday morning...

Best wishes

I agree with all the above, gave me a wry smile. Although I hear there's an astronomers' revolt in the offing and Pluto may, in fact, be reinstated...maybe they're Great Writing fans....

Found this from September lazy writers.

Great writing, as above.

I too am pissed off, as now I'll have to rewrite all my lesson plans.

Thought the Walt Disney touch was clever (and restrained).
