For the wee fella who tried to save me from myself. Oli O thou who dost the topers save, From poverty and early grave, Whose sagest counsel freely gave, To this poor sinner, Thou art the hero of the hour, And were it in my scope or power, I’d see thee honoured four times o’er, At Gala dinner. Oh God bless thee most noble Ian, Thou humblest, meekest human being, For this poor sinner’s liver freeing, Cirrhosis’s grasp, Thou bravest, fearless, son of David, To Bacchus I’m no more enslaved, Thy slingshot true this wretch has saved, My soul unclasped. Despise thee not the poor tribute, From this unworthy, tongue-tied, brute, Thy goodness is beyond dispute, By any man, I promise not to let thee down, Thy countenance cause not to frown, I have no troubles now to drown, From glass or can. So hail thou peerless CPN! Thou role model to other men! I sing thy praises ten times ten, From mountain’s peak, More power to thy saintly hand, May life’s sore trials thy heart withstand, Until the deserts clear of sand, To aid the weak.
