Betty and Alf

Betty
Who's that at number eleven
I've never seen him there before
he trying to look through the window
and hammering hell out the door

Alf
Will you please come away from the window
and sit down and watch some TV
you know you're a right nosey parker
now out of the way, let me see.

Betty
Oh Alf I think he's a policeman
I hope it isn't bad news
or some around here's blown the whistle
on him selling those cheap fags and booze

Alf
You know luv your just like your mother
I bet "she"  knows what's going on
she'll be having a peep from her bedroom
so give her a ring once they've gone

Betty
You know Alf you call me nosey
and you say that my mother's as bad
well you're just a grumpy old moaner
in fact you're just like your dad.

Hi oxy,

Sweet and simple little poem here. I'm no poet, but I know that the ABCB rhyme scheme works perfectly in this instance.

Good humour and some nice social comments throughout, I especially liked the irony oozing from:

"you know you're a right nosey parker
now out of the way, let me see."

Good technique, and a great read.

Oops, was going to say "my name is Michael Caine and I'm a nosey neighbour". We are all curtain twitchers to a greater or lesser extent. This captures the inter-marital tension of the chronic sufferers of the condition.

BTW Kev, I think ABCB is great too "Whole lotta Rosie" is my favourite!

Givitsum, morgue indeed! I'm away back to my slab!
