Terror In the Dark
By ellipinnock
28 August 2006
Upon waking in the small hours of the night.

Alone.
Buffetted. Swirling.
Falling out of
Disjointed
Time.

No space
For screaming.
Just
Terror
In the Dark.

Pity me.
Reaching,
Eternally clutching
At space.
At emptiness.

No hope.
Just my demons,
Beyond reach.
Keening
In the night.

I know the feeling.

Have you read my poem "The Dark"? Yours conveys many of the same feelings to me in a very different style. The emotions are dark too. Its a primeval fear common to all humans.

Remember, the darkest hour is just before dawn.

Well done,

I have just pootled over to have a peek....and like what I saw. Glad someone else wakes up in the night too!

This is what poetry should be about, capturing an emotion or feeling quickly and concisely (and if possible unpretentiously) I think you got it down really well, every word packed a punch.
I'll sleep well tonight
