Building Characters

A few characters sketches I have done of regular characters Mr & Mrs George. I have also invented 3 new residents all of who work in the Village Library.

Mrs George

Mrs George has fading red hair that is tied up in a bin with wispy, unruly, static strands framing her face. Mrs George has a wide, expressive face with a ruddy country look that reflects her age. She wears small, silver spectacles. She has a plump, jolly apple shaped figure. She maybe small in stature but she has a big, loud voice. She is a shrewd business woman and has made a greet success of her husbands family business at the Wishing Well Café. Mrs George has a brisk, brash manner but is a well likes, generous family woman.

Mr George

Ernie George is about 15 years older than hi wife. He was previously married to a very different sort of woman –Emily Cobbler who tragically died at a young age from a gruelling illness. The current Mrs George is the complete opposite to Ernie; she brings him out of his thoughtful, quiet existence and highlights what a kind, gentle being he is.

Ethan Hooper.

Ethan Hooper works at the village library. He is a tall, slim man who is 27 years of age. He has curly, short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes with a pale complection. He is very smart in appearance. Ethan has a keen interest in musicals and plays. He plays the piano, the clarinet, the harp and the saxophone and listens to classic fm.He used to be a choir boy at the church. He is also interested in royal history and enjoys watching cash in the attic. He lives with his elderly mother in a terrace house behind the church.

Sarah Child

Sarah Child is another librarian. She is an extremely hard working mother of three young children. Two daughters named Ester and Jane and one son named William. She has a good for nothing husband called Jim who can be found propping up the bar in the Leg of Lamb most evenings with Fred and Gerard. Sarah lives a mundane existence. She looks like a typical, frumpy, middle aged woman. She has brown, straight hair in a short bob.

Lydia Woods

Lydia is the ‘alternative’ librarian. Lydia is a hippy with thick, coloured dreadlocks and a pierced nose. She can’t wait to escape the village and all its traditions and conventions. She is working for a year before going to uni. Her grandfather Noah Woods used to be the village Mayor and therefore Lydia had to play the part of cute little granddaughter when she was younger. So now, to the family’s disappointment, Lydia is rebelling. Her father is a much revered war hero to the outside world but the truth is he now has deep seated psychological issues and likes to be alone in solitude. Her mother Cassandra [who is related to the Jones’s family] is devoted to her much, younger brother Thomas who is 7.

I hope somebody takes them up and uses them.

I will have to keep in mind the delineation of Ernie and Mrs George , since Peter is boarding with them .
