What did we do before computers, eh? For one thing we had to come up with a different analogy for the human brain. The Mind is a Metaphor is a slightly unwieldy, yet rather curious collection of 18th-century metaphors for the old noggin. Ships, candles, inner-eyes, they had the lot.
