just had another argument with my parents and managed to capture my emotions in verse. they want me to be a vet but i know i'm a poet.
Mum Dad I don't want to be a vet
I haven't written enough poetry yet
You don't understand why I write in rhyme
You just bang on about college all the time
Well I'm sick of it I tell you
I don't share your stupid view
I want to be a poet i've told you more than twice
I don't want to spend all my time with sick cats and mice
You can't tell me how to run my life
You're a fool Dad and so is your wife
I'm a poet, a poet why can't you see
I don't want to be a vet I want to be FREE!

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all! So, I won't say anything at all! |

The trick of the tail is to be a veterinary poet. ' There was a young wolfhound called Joe Who under the needle died slow.......' Go on... |

| Writing poetry doesn't usually bring in much money on which to live - so who will you turn to when you need a roof over your head and food on your table? Stupid parents, of course. I do hope that when you're my age you tell me I've been wrong. I would keep the day job and write the poems in the evenings if I were you. I hope you will think I've given you good advice - but there again, I am a parent and a grandparent now. |

Top drawer stuff as usual cabbagepatchkid. Keep up the good work. I must admit it's a difficult toss up between pouring your heart out for a few quid and doing 6 years medicine at University. Perhaps you might consider chucking them off moving bus? See if they understand you then? Your No. 1 fan, Givitsum |
The best solution... Written by Talisker (1336 comments posted) 16th September 2006 |
Would be to slaughter your parents in their sleep. You can then join your beloved under her majesty's care, and have endless lock-down time in which to write poetry in peace. I hope you find this advice helpful. Oli.

Are parents stupid? Written by rheavee (13 comments posted) 17th September 2006 |
Parents are still parents! after all you are not what you are right now without them... hey they deserve your respect... So you find this fancy? You're a fool Dad and so is your wife... I think your parents should start asking themselves if they are successful in raising you...relationship are far more important than poetry man....
