Touched
By Phil
17 September 2006
Just an idea, pick away.

Touched

I look down
And see the lights
Spread in random pattern.
A sodium constellation
Puncturing the darkness
All the way
To the horizon.
Thousands of people
Living their lives.

I wonder:
What they do,
What they think,
What they feel?
Do they see me
Travelling along?
My own lights
Just a flash amongst many others;
Another anonymous blink.

The road sweeps round.
The landscape shifts.
The points of light
And life
Obscured.
I pass on,
Unnoticed.

Touched by strangers.

You know that orange streetlights are sodium - thats impressive!

I can connect with the sentiments - I have often felt like this. You are a genius and a friend.

Love you (not in a queer way),

I love this. I know someone with a house in one of the valleys north of Cardiff which has a view of the A470 winding down towards Cardiff. Of an evening I sometimes sit and wonder exactly this. Wonderful.

Thanks Oli and Elli.

And why not Oli? You've never met me!
Beautiful

Hi Phil

You've captured a feeling in this poem that is almost ethereal. A kind of tangibility that I can relate to. Many times, driving back from meetings I've looked out and had similar thoughts to those in your poem. Just a brief fleeting connection, then gone.

It's just so beautiful, so enigmatic.

You're quite a writer Phil...

Well done

best wishes

This poem will touch many I'm sure. It is beautifully written and it is both eloquent and strikes a chord within.
It is truly lovely. You are very talented.

Thanks for sharing this.
