For someone in the midst of a divorce

Fear not that lonely nights
Might be your only future
Fear not that you might not find your way
As the days pass, and distant memories
beckon you to pastures green.

Fear not that invisible webs are being spun
To trap you in to secret lairs, as you run.
And seeking shelter,
fear not that you might fly blind in the night
And, like a butterfly drawn to the light,
You might burn your delicate wings and die.

Lie with me a while, let me share your pain
Cry with me if you need, be not afraid
As our paths run close
Through golden fields of waving corn, or deadly thorns
A new way will open, the sun will shine,
And springtime flowers will lead your steps to a tranquil mind,
Just give it time.

There are some really lovely images in this poem and it has a raw emotional quality to it which is very attractive. I think it is a little rough around the edges and that changing the line structure slightly and just having a play with it could transform this into a very good poem.

Well done

Thanks for your thoughts - when they flow straight from the heart like this one I find it really difficult to go back in and make changes - your views are really appreciated, and all the more valued because they come without the personal 'baggage' that prompted the writing. Cheers!

Agree very much with all Elli has said. Just to add: I thought your final verse had the flow and rhythm some of the rest missed

Well done,

Phil.
