Empathy; Blessing or Curse?

Have you ever looked someone in the eyes
really deep

Did you hear what that girl said?
She said she was raped yesterday
You heard it didn’t you?
But your friend said “she’s a quarter to three”

Can you follow the bloody drops on the floor?
They fall from the arms of that boy in the centre
You can see the cuts right?
But the boy just laughs with his friends
And runs of to class

Do you see the girl in the corner there?
She’s the most beautiful angel you’ve ever seen

But everyone else just walks through her
And she runs of to class

Can you feel the tears on her cheek?
there's enough of them to drown you
And in her eyes you see
You know, her father came to visit her last night

But she joins her pretty friends
And runs off to class

How long can you stand it?
As more and more of your thoughts end up being true
