Channel 4 ‘Royal’ coup.

Channel 4 director, Chris Stott, has launched plans for an amazing new documentary series. He claims to have secured the rights to film the historic move from Buckingham palace of HRH Queen Elizabeth.

“We’ve signed contracts agreeing to twenty-four hour access and no royal veto of program content. We plan to screen a daily one hour highlight slot, with twenty-four hour web coverage available for a small subscription charge,” announced Stott yesterday.

Following the Republic act (Feb 2008, Hansard 123.54b) the Queen and her family have just one month to vacate all Royal premises and rescind all crown property, unfairly accumulated possessions and wealth. After this time, HRH Queen Elizabeth will simply be known as Mrs E Windsor.

In related developments, Doncaster town council have offered the royal family a four bedroom house on the Racecourse estate. Town officials claim they are aiming to raise the profile of the area and want to increase tourism. Locals have been petitioning council offices. Len Bagshaw, resident association spokesperson said, “We’ve enough scrounging sods round ‘ere.”

The palace was unavailable for comment.

Could you put a word in on my behalf?

I've an idea for a follow up programme, "I'm a Celeb Monarch, dethrone me out of here". A group of Celebs swan around the now vacant Buck House being "regal" in minimal clothing and we can vote to dethrone one of them.

Or we could set it in Osbourne house and call it Saxe-Coburg-Gotha Island?

Well done.

Nice thought to start us off with, Phil. I think Sue Townsend coined this one a while ago, but I do like the idea of filming the departure. Maybe up the tempo with the Nationwide Building Society repossessing the Palace after the British monarchy's 300 or so years of unemployment racking up arrears since King Charles 1 lost his job. It would be lovely to hear the comment of the Nationwide's Westminster Branch Manager.

Slan!
Pickfords maam.....

Nice to see this one from you Phil. Like Gerard this reminded me of the spoof novel by Sue Townsend but your idea of filming the whole move was a nice touch. Look forward to seeing more from you - there is certainly plenty out there...

happy writing

Would make a great granny farm. Or possibly a home for disruptive, mal adjusted children.

No change there then!!!

Oli.
Thumbs up

Yep, good one Phil. I do get the feeling there's a little anti-Royal sentiment flying around these here parts.

Personally I think they're great. Only when you live abroad do you appreciate how well the while institution is regarded outside our borders.

Again, well done Phil.
