AN ILLUSION CALLED "LIFE"!

My illusion about my life! Feel free to write about your life! I am here to listen and share...

AN ILLUSION CALLED “LIFE”!

It was a celebration when I was born

Smiles on my parents’ faces were evident

An expectation that I was unaware of

Grew larger and bigger

As the years went by

As a kid, I was loved by one and all

Even though, I lived in my own fantasyland

Playing, stealing, lying and learning

The so-called reality of life

First with disbelief and then with intelligence

I was taught to obey everything

Much to my disliking

I was expected to please one and all

So what if, I was getting hurt in the bargain

I gradually became aware about life

I wanted to live life my way

Each time people stopped me to do so though

My parents, teachers, society and law

Each one expected something out of me

I was, however, not ready to please everybody

I suffered! I even succeeded at times

The envious world laughed at me

Many felt vindicated doing so

Looking at them I felt pity

Because I am still living life my way

While I am living in the world

I have never became a part of it

I defied the logic of the world

Expectation shattered

Each one left me in my own world

Living in my own world

I realized how each one of us

Try to pose what we are not

Just like the illusion the mirage creates

Bringing happiness and miseries alike

Life is an illusion

We humans have created to please ourselves

While everyone enjoys seeing the mirage

They also suffer when they try to posses it

Life? Well, the expectations still lingers on…

What you say is true. Why not try using elliptical sentences to make the poem a little more pithy and direct?
I think I admire your positive outlook..

And philosophy, but I can't find anything very positive to say about your poetry. I hope thats a fault in my perception. Each to their own.

Good luck and as you say, keep smiling.

I see what you are trying to say Johnny and I think it's a lovely poem. Keep up the good work, you are obviously special.

Don't you think this would be better over in the Poetry section Johnny instead of Short Stories?
