For Children
It's Not Fair!

This is ostensibly a poem for children. But I am being sneaky: it is really a poem for adults masquerading as a poem for children.

IT'S NOT FAIR!

My sister’s got an iPod

That’s plugged in to her ears

And everywhere she ever goes

Eevveerryybbooddyy  hears

My brother’s got a mobile

He never once puts down

And all he ever does is text

As he walks through the town

My Mum has got a Walkman

She listens to all day

She sings aloud and snaps her fingers

I’m ashamed to say

My Dad’s got a computer

He’s sits at all day long

And when I try and talk to him

He tells me ‘Run along’

Somewhere I’ve got a Game boy

(I can’t remember where)

I’ll have to go outside to play

It really isn’t fair

So true!

I liked this poem and how true for today. Yes, we certainly can enjoy this, but I think kids can, too. Good job!

Yes, this is a very "modern poem" Wiztl. How true it is. I came back from London on the train last week and could not believe that everyone around me seemed to be talking into mobile phones - - - and when I come to think of it, my goodness the burglars could have learnt a lot about people's comings and goings. They tell you to be careful about destroying your personal information, and yet, all around me they were freely giving it out to anyone who could listen. Your poem had a good regular beat and was funny, and that is what children like. Well done.
