He's my twin. Recall dear Sean the photograph, In monochrome that made us laugh? There’s me and you in twin pushchair, Me, sound asleep with scarce a care. You all alert, with impish grin, Betraying nothing from within. And placed between our toddler laps, A monkey in a suit and cap. Remember Sean the halcyon days, Those spent absorbed in carpet play. With plastic soldiers massed in ranks, Felled by matchstick-firing tanks. Me with random, scattered fire, You with aspirations higher. Of course dear Sean, you always won, But twin, I found the losing fun. And then the heady college daze, You’d win the girls' hearts with ease. “I met him on the tube”, you’d claim, Then “Fallopian”, just to explain. Our twinship is as strong today, Though scarce the day we spend in play. Cherished memories rest within, My other half, my Sean, my twin. Oli (25/10/06)
