Long Lost Melody

Long Lost Melody

This long lost melody

A rippling flood of merriment

The notes go flying --

high to low

Clear vowels in

pianissimo –

Explosive, tumbling, out they rush

Then suddenly, a muted hush

…..so long we wait,

And wait…..

…..suspended expectation…

Until it gushes out again,

A wonderfully fresh refrain

Exuberant --

Like sun’s triumphant push through

torn grey clouds

Such warmth it brings

Such joy it rings

That we pull smiles

From wells we thought were dry

And quite forget to sigh:

Sweet children’s laughter

Very much indeed.

Your summer poems didn't do much for me though.

A true return to form - resplendent!

I love the imagery running through this and I like the way you've used rhyme. I would have put the line break in:

Like sun’s triumphant push through

torn grey clouds'

after push rather than through, it felt awkward for me (although, in a way, it does work where you've put it) but that's just me.

Great stuff
