HAPPINESS
By JohnnyD

My version of happiness!

HAPPINESS

Everyone feels it
Some express it to a hilt
Many claim to have it all the time
Is it for real?
Can one ever possess it?

While we explore
All our life in search
The mystery comes and goes
At its own will and wish
To spread a cheer on our faces

Lingering a fraction of a second
It just doesn't lasts longer enough
Like a breathe of fresh air
It arrives to vanish into the blue
Even before one can relish its essence

One can often hear people exclaim,
"Oh, I am so happy!"
The reality, however, is as mysterious
As the state of being happy
For the mystery never unfolds

Before you know
It slips away from one's life
Difficult to sustain
Happiness is an illusion
Impossible to posses forever and ever

Happiness

Happiness is the one thing people search for more than anything else. Many have tried to define it. Yes, it is for real, but not many people have it all the time. You should read the two poems I wrote on "Happiness" and "Happiness as Revealed by the BBC" dated 10 May. The BBC did a series of programmes on this very subject, and actually they came up with quite different ideas for the creation of happiness to what I did. It was such an interesting programme and I hope they repeat it. It is definitely not money which creates happiness.

I'll happily pass, thank you.

Phil.
