Hush
By oxy

Write a text werein a sound plays an important part.

(Based on an exercise generated by WriteThis - 27/05/2005 18:04:34)

Quiet please, don't make a sound,

let's see how long we last,

no more whispers no more shouts

let's keep our lips sealed fast.

Fingers to your lips now,

reminding them to shush,

now it is so quiet

you can almost hear the hush.

It's time to start the story

that helps you off to sleep,

so rest your head and close your eyes

and promise not to peep.

Once upon a time.......

sitting in a circle as you tell the story!

This is a lovely piece which is based on such an interesting sound, the rhythm is great and the language used makes it a really lovely piece.

Or at work really ;) I think this might really work with my youngest group of children. It's just the sort of vocab you need to capture attention, with stage whisper tones and heavy pauses.

Title is effective and appropriate, although I wouldn't use the last line with a child unless I actually was going to tell a story!!
