Foreign language indeed!! It was spoken in these islands when God was in shorts!! An well before the English had the decency to dress themselves, let alone address themselves. Well done for having the good grace to translate it. A courtesy to the reader you seem to share only with Josie. I enjoyed its pithy tease. If you haven't done so already have a screw at The Poor Mouth[ An Beal Bocht ] Flan O' Brien. You might like it.

Re-reading it I wonder if it wouldn't be better to make his beer blue instead of the water not-blue. That would be a more logical explanation for him ordering tea.
I loved your limerick Josie, and Gerard, I'll sure take a look at the piece you mentioned. Though I probably wouldn't be able to read the Irish version without a dictionary ;-)

Is the Irish for Limerick if anyone cares.
I like the idea of this but sadly the translations aren't always as poetic sounding as the foreign language.
Not sure any of my family would dream of drinking water over tea anyway but they aren't from Kerry and they're strange folk down there.
You should try some saga poetry in Irish.

I whish I could write saga poetry in Irish, but my knowledge of the language is still far too little for that.  |
