Damn Spot

Listen to "Misere" by Cat Empire.

Do you ever stop

And think that

Maybe

Everything

Isn't as deep as it seems?

Times,

When all the truths you thought
To be truths

Run together.

Oily, in it's making

You knew you could touch it

But when you did

You found it only left silty stains on your fingers

And what is this?

Now it's on your hands

Off, this damn spot

But it's all on you now-

                      the last thing we want.

And so what can we do

When truth is so tangible?

We close our eyelids

Oh, for if we cannot see it

It cannot see us

And we will still have something to wish for

In the morning

When we wake up and wonder-

What if truth

Isn't as deep as it seems?

What if? We're probably screwed.

Sorry, never heard of Cat Empire.

Not heard of cat empire either! I liked bits of this-thought the structure needed rejigging because you disrupt the sense with line breaks so many times that it makes the poem quite hard to read in places. I lost what you were getting at a bit in the middle but overall I enjoyed it.
