Poetry
To a Bat
By Talisker
20 November 2006
A bat, a bat,
No more, no less than that,
A mouse with membrane hands,
Who flies and never lands,
But hangs in cold inversion,
Her brain in blood immersion,
Surviving frigid hibernation,
Sustained by thoughts above her station!
To criticise the likes of me! Me!

 A bard, a bard,
One held in high regard!
These hands were made for writing verse,
Burns sent his blessed soul to course,
Through every sinew, every vein,
And every quarter of my brain,
That I might see his work is done,
A man’s a man, a son’s a son,
A bat is only that.  A bat.

A Poet, A Poet
Written by Josie (2500 comments posted) 20th November 2006
A poet, a poet –
Now I really, really, know it!
A person whose brain won’t rest
But one whose life is truly blessed!

Well done, Oli - You have succeeded where I have failed. I never thought of writing about a bat, but your poem is good. But you know, a bat also thinks he is something in this world too, but he can't say so.
Thanks Josie

This is addressed to a particular member of the bat species. One from Germany.

LOL. Although I supose this one is directed towards me, I think it's a brilliant poem :grin
I guess I stepped on someone's toes by using the wrong word. I blame my dictionary!
There, there... I just gave my opinion. Never claimed that I could do it better.

Despite my username and references to German literature I am not German though ;)

Enjoyed and laughed.

All the best,

Phil.

Laughed at the idea of describing a bat. Brilliant, excellent, and I have no more to say. 8)
