Diary of a Bacchanal (Part 12)

“O frabjous day, Callooh! Callay!
He chortled in his joy!”

Those lines from Lewis Carroll’s “The Jaberwocky” seem to sum it up for me today.

Also from immortal bard’s “Tam o’ Shanter”

“The storm without might rair and rustle, Tam did na mind the storm a whistle”

Well into day two and feeling great.  Not to the point of complacency, but just up to the line of optimism.

Last night was spent in torment, I expected no less, I was sitting here at 3.30 a.m. doing a few of my scathing reviews, trying to stay awake, unable to sleep. Like sweaty Betty.  Who cares?  I got through, and now I’m enthused with renewed vigour.  I don’t even know what I’m writing to tell you the honest truth, it’s probably from the land of jibber.

So onwards and upwards we go.  While I remember, thanks to all my virtual pals on GW.  Whatever the outcome of this attempt, your help, encouragement, selfless efforts to nudge me in the right direction are all packed in my thermal vest, closest to my heart.

I’ve got a good feeling about this folks.  I’ve got tomato and red pepper homemade soup on, so I better go and stir it.  Who said I’ve been stirring it for months?  Cheeky!

Hi Oli. It's heartening to see you in such great spirits. Long may it continue! :)

You must introduce me to your numbering system some day. It could be useful around the start of the new tax year.

A mountaineering tip: try and maintain your height. It is better to move slowly up around a circular route than descend a dip to tackle a peak on the other side of the valley.

Wild optimism makes for a more crushing defeat, as I'm sure you know. The gentle, realistic optiimism you appear to be showing now is more likely to succeed in the long run than frantic bouts of it.

Plus any other bland patronising homilies you care to add

Yep. Have you lost all sense of our number system Oli?

Still, very good to hear things things are on the up.

I was introduced to Tam O'Shanter by a friend from Elgin (sadly, now dead) who recited magnificently. Love it.

All the best. Keep going.

Phil.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe'

You gotta love a bit of jabberwocky :) I like the idiosyncratic number system, just like you :) Glad today is good for you.

Leek and potato here -- wish it was tomato and red pepper. Homemade soup is the only way to go, though -- especially when you've got leftovers to dispose of. And boy, do I, with that fridge dead as a doornail.

Fortunately, I am so mathematically challenged that I never even noticed your idiosyncratic numbering system. . .

Just keep working your way through the positive integers.
Thanks everyone!

Numbers, who cares? I've only missed out 11, need to keep one in reserve!

BBS, bloody Beamish! My favorite pint of stout! How could you! :grin

Mary, the soup was great, followed by a portion of homemade (olimade) plumb crumble, served hot with cold cream.

The tomatoes in the soup were the last of my home grown, organic "Garten Pearls" loverly!

What a good boy! Keep right on to the end Oli. We're behind you. It's easy to say that when we're tucked up sleeping at 3 am. (Goodness I need my sleep after stalking men all day)!
