NOT SAVOURY

NOT SAVOURY

I wanted to impress him

fulfill his every wish,

I decided, I would cook for him

his very favourite dish.

Spaghetti Bolognaise, with sauce

was on my me and you,

And so I went into the shops

Ingredients for to view.

I soon found the spaghetti

and my shopping had begun,

I really did get into this

was really having fun

Up and down the aisles' I went

looking for mince meat,

But somehow it eluded me

my boyfriends favourite treat.

Then, all at once I sighted it

over there and not too far,

Can't tell you how surprise I was

to find it In A JAR!

Anyway, I purchased it and

took it home to start,

Feeling very confident

I'd win my fellas' heart.

Candles lit and in best dress

I proudly served the dish,

'Spaghetti Bolognaise' he said

'And you look pretty swish'

He had a great big mouthful

taken carefully from the plate.

Then you should have heard him

he really did create.

'Er... it's sweet', he spluttered

Anger bulged his eyes!

'You silly cow!

the minced you've used

Is for making sweet mincepies!'

This was good fun to read. There were one or two places in it where I had trouble with where the emphasis would be in the line e.g. looking for mince meat, where I think the stress sould be on "meat" but mince makes it difficult to do that - which kind of broke the rhythm - but it was good.
