Ode to a Scotsman

A cheerful little ditty for Oli (not a paedo in sight)

*ducks*

(and apologises profusely...no self control :) )

So crispy and crunchy,
crammed full of delight,
a well-battered Mars bar
is a wonderful sight.

It fills him with joy,
it makes his heart sing,
with this lot inside him
he'll do anything.

He'll feel so inspired
with no need for duress,
he'll strip off his clothes
and dive into Loch Ness.

The people will perish,
birds fall from the sky
as our dripping wet Scotsman
emerges nearby.

Liked this, Elli! The fried Mars bar is just such an amazing culinary creation, and I'm thrilled to see that it hasn't been given the literary cold shoulder!

In fact, earlier this year I nominated the deep fried Mars bar as one of the seven wonders of Scotland, right up there with the Glasgow shipyards and the Severn Bridges and I even wrote my own ode, to reflect this:

Here's to lochs so blue and fair
Dark green forests, sweet fresh air
Craggy mountains, stretching far
And of course, the fried Mars bar

The Scotsman didn't print it, so I thought I'd share it with you here. Go on, Oli -- I'm an American. Surely you can do something with super-sized Yanks and Big Macs . . .?

It's a terrible thing when the reviews are better than the original effort!

Thanks for wasting your time on my piece of silliness!

Elli, I just love silliness. I happen to think that it is highly underrated. I'm still reeling from the Scotsman's rejection of my Ode to a Mars Bar.
