Ye Olde Worlde Love Poem
By Tenchi
28 November 2006
I fancied having a go at one, rather randomly.

Tench

How I do love the light that shines from thee
and in thine eyes do see a form of God
Lustrous waves of sunshine yellowed honey
and o'er my soul your beauty runs roughshod

your scent permeates my famished senses
the feel of your warm skin lightens my soul
thoughts of our love evicts and dispenses
fears, doubts and feelings of losing control

never leave me or life will disown me
a former shadow of man will I be
believe me my love when I say so true

life holds nowt for us without me and you
a joy to be held forever in bliss
Hold to each other and nothing's amiss

As you say it does what it says on the lable. I'm not a poet but I thought this was a competent piece of work, well expressed with solid rhyming and recognisable meter. I think you captured the spirit of teh old style love poems well

I'm no poet either, but I think this may be one of those sonnets. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I liked this for its simple, romantic sentiment and its delivery. The one thing that jarred was 'nowt.' Strange really, as it's a word I use myself.

All the best,

Phil.
