But are these children really of a lesser god? I like the title in itself, but not sure it fits the poem. | Written by Phil (6713 comments posted) 29th November 2006 | Ooops. Back to form. Phil. | CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD Written by Josie (2785 comments posted) 29th November 2006 | | This is the name of a film. But what do you mean by "lesser God" in this poem? Yours sincerely, thoroughly confused again from Ilkley. | The reason Written by JohnnyD (97 comments posted) 29th November 2006 | Yes, it is the name of the beautiful film. The reason I titled this poem CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD is because these are the beautiful thoughts of under privileged children. They know and see beauty in everything that is so elusive in their world. This poem is from their point of view. I tried to give depth by not mentioning them actually. Hope it will be clear now to understand the poem. Thank you all for the lovely feedbacks. Johnny D | Ah - I do so understand now Written by Josie (2785 comments posted) 30th November 2006 | | Johnny, I do understand now. Since it was you who wrote the poem, I should have known that it was connected to this film. 1986 - a film about a teacher who falls in love with a deaf girl in New England. Yes, a beautiful film. I can relate to your poem because my little grandaughter, who is 2 years old, is seeing things which we take for granted, for the first time - and finds everything and everyone wonderful at the moment. It is a shame that they ever come out of this stage. She came running to me last weekend only to take me into my garden and show me some fuschias in full flower. She was gently touching them and telling me how beautiful they were. I picked one, and she kept it in her hand for ages looking at it. And when you look at the simple things around us in the world of nature, they are truly beautiful through the eyes of children, seeing them for the first time. (There's a poem coming on!) |
