An observation on the negative side to religious faith

It's what she does all day

Praying.

She is worn out with age

From the flight of years gone by

The weight of cloth commands her.

Girdled with guilt by scriptures

The words; they bite down on her skin

Until there is nothing but silence

Only the muffled sobbing

As she curls up in God's lap.

I often wonder how fervently religious people can keep true to the dogmatic side of religion and I think there must be some element of self torture involved which you capture here brilliantly.

I liked this, interesting concept, could probably be polished a little but I thought it was really good.

Thought this a good start to something with much more potential. The ideas you've had are well expressed and worked well - but for me, this is crying out to be expanded. There is so much material to go at. (Sorry, could be my reaction to my upbringing coming through.)

I'd be really interested to see this developed.

All the best,

Phil.
