TWO WORLDS OF ONE CHRISTMAS

TWO WORLDS OF ONE CHRISTMAS

Birth, joy, arrival

Celebration, happiness

Festival time across the world

Sweets and gifts aplenty

Enjoying expectant children

Joy giving Santa Claus everywhere

Decoration, prayers

Making merry old and young

Dressed nicely, dancing the nights

Music surrounding everywhere

Tinkling bells, crowd galore

Chorus singing beautiful maidens

Sitting in a corner

Watching illuminated world

Life is never a celebration, why?

There are so many

Children like me weeping quietly

Sans love in tattered clothes

Why no one really care for us?

Where is Jesus?

Where are you my Santa Claus?

Living in one corner of the world

Wishing a little joy in my life

I’m also a little soul of your kingdom

Christmas or no Christmas

My life is never a celebration

Why Jesus? Why Santa Claus?

I was walking at the special Christmas departement of a departement store yesterday and I noticed all these glamorous things. Everywhere there were (fake) diamonds, pearls, gold and silver... I couldn't help wondering... Wasn't Jezus born in a cold and lonely cave, amongst the cattle?
A strange way to celebrate the birthday for a man who gave his life for the sins of mankind, by giving in to overindulgence...

I bet that for someone living in India this contrast must be even clearer. I heard that some people there possess incredible wealth, while others so poor we can't even imagine it, and that those people live nearly side by side...

I feel that Christ and all he stood for is lost in this festival of overindulgence. Jesus had no part in the Christmas that we know today, and, of course, he never celebrated "Christmas" which came about years after he had died. He was a simple man who came to preach the message of love, and he told people to share with the poor, not overindulge. I feel that the festival of the winter solstice and Christmas should be separated as I don't think he would want to be associated with spend, spend, spend on luxury items. Enough said before I get them all going again!
