I see endless grassy plains I have seen you in my dreams Hot blood pulsing in my veins The steppes call me it seems Hoofs upon the barren ground Horses gallop, running wild Drums, thunder, violent sound The burning wind, never mild Cheering men, an arrow shot Rolling hills, grasslands so wide Nights are icy, day are hot We saddle horses and ride Outside the yurt the wind howls The horses neigh the goats bleat Before the tents a hound crawls We cook soup of hunted meat Only once I was on horseback And I've never seen the plain Instead of a bow, a bagpack To my lectures I go by train
