Wasting Time
By rilLie
05 December 2006
Another storm just went by the country.... these storms and their timings... ARGH! they even cancelled our legacy concert because of it... The good thing is, this time, it didn't really hit our town, it hit Albay, a bit south from the mainland... Lahar and mudslides.. sad...I'm going to dig into my old clothes to donate later.... 300 people dead and more than 700 missing...
Anyways, I'm not sure about this one yet... A bit incomplete.. just wanted to know what you guys think... I was so bored during the storm coz classes were suspended and we couldn't go out because of the fear of the signal number 4...
And, back to my rituals, I wrote this during Science class this morning. :D I wrote this for a friend whom I know is going to leave to migrate to Canada on the tenth. gonna miss him.

Heavy lids droop,
fingers itching to move,
joints aching to work.

Stuck here,
arse never leaving
the seat.
Feet tapping on
cold linoleum.

I'm wasting time,
knowing that every second gone
is one less
I have left.

Very sad

Very sad is what I think RiLie. Don't waste your young life. You have the world awaiting you. But you didn't exactly waste it when you picked up paper and pen and got writing! Yes, we were all very very sorry to hear of the dreadful storm you had, and we are now getting the aftermath of it here with high winds and gales.
Time...

Reading the introduction, I guess that the poem itself doesn't have to do with the storm? Yet I did read it like that: As if you wanted to do something, but couldn't... Yet.
It's a bit frightening that natural disasters can strike anywhere, anytime... I'm sure the survivors will be very happy with the clothes you send them.

Another day older, another day closer to death? I guess living so near the storm and the dangers that entails can make you focus on mortality.

I particularly liked the middle verse in this. While I'm no poetry expert, I honestly feel your work has matured a great deal of late.

All the best,

Phil.
