Thoughts Of A Loving Mother

  Thoughts Of A Loving Mother

Why childe, thou hast grown so quick!
The thought of your journey from girl to woman,
It has traveled so fast, it makes me sick!
I remember you childe,
When you were a babe.
I would sit by your cradle, watching,
E’en when you were crying like some beast of the wilde.
As soon as your swaddling cloths were on,
T’was time to take them off,
As you were a girl, but not for long.
And now here you are, my daughter,
A grown woman of fourteen summers.
Today I let you go, today you were wed.
And here, now, I watch you enter your marriage bed.

Strangely, I think of this as an old Irish folk song. I don't quite know why.. nicely put together!
