Smoking Shadow
By MissManda
22 December 2006
My boy and I both smoke but upon reading this, he got the impression that I was attacking cigarettes. Let's assume that I was....

Dreaming I dreamt a silhouette
In his fingers a cigarette
Smoke drifting, swirling off ahead
Sighing with smoke the skin he shed

Drifting off on regrets and fears
Shadow-eyes tight, he shed his tears
He hushed himself but still he bled
Sighing with smoke the skin he shed

Inhaling smoke in his last breath
I dream at night, he dreams at death
Living the while that lies ahead
Sighing with smoke the skin he shed

Dreaming I dreamt a silhouette
Sighing with smoke the skin he shed

I really like the line, "Sighing with smoke the skin he shed".
It's not easy to say and that makes it memeorable.
I actually didn't think it was about smoking as such (although it made me want a cigarette coz it's kinda sultry) but more about the smoke filling in the empty air between them, death, regrets, etc.
Nice. :)
