Home For Christmas/ Hometown Christmas Blues

The house does not make me
Shape me, or break me.
This is my hometown, but not, as it goes, anymore.

The estate does not entrance me
Enhance me, or expand me
This is my hometown, but not as I remember, anymore.

The Locals can not bind me
Find me, or define me
This is my hometown, but they're not the same, anymore.

The pubs do not call me
Haul me, or stall me
This is my hometown, but it has no appeal, anymore.

The streets do not need me
Feed me, or read me
This is my hometown, but it has no love, anymore.

I've lived away from my hometown for twenty-one years now and feel much like this, so well done for capturing it. Not totally convinced about the form though.

Phil.
